Access Statement
The Checkers is an old building and hence access is limited in places. There are two steps down from the entrance - we have a small ramp which reduces the step by one.

On the ground floor steps have been avoided wherever possible. A series of small steps, ramps and slight gradients in certain areas accommodate the changes in floor level. The bar has a wooden floor while the restaurant is a combination of carpets and wood.

The toilets are tiled with rush matting in the corridor.

New door openings are standard width, please contact us if further details are required as historic doorways may not meet requirements.

The disabled loo is fully accessible by wheel chair and an emergency call system is in place.

The first floor is accessible by stairs only (with hand rail) and unfortunately no lift is available.

There are a series of steps on the first floor including:

  • Three steps down to the bathroom in Agen- Lot et Garonne (with a hand rail)
  • A small step (3 inches) up to the bathroom in Le Pruneau with another step up to the bath
  • A step down to the wet room in Le Chataignier which also has a very very low doorway (due to a supporting timber)
  • A small step into the bathroom in Le Petit Jardin
  • A small step into the bathroom in Les Filles du Fermier

Les Filles du Fermier is an annex room accessed via a roof terrace - there is a walk way which must be used, with a small step down.  Access on to the roof terrace is not permitted.

There is a rear terrace paved in natural stone flags with a step down.

Many of the door ways throughout the building are lower than current standards. If you would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact us and we will be very happy to help.
